We stayed for one night in Stone Town and chose Tembo Hotel for the location, proximity to the ferry, and their waterfront breakfast that was included. We stayed in the Annex building, which we knew of ahead of time, but it wasn’t a problem for us. You are very close to the shops and waterfront. The five of us fit comfortably in a large room with three king size beds and one bathroom. Breakfast was great and had a lot of variety. Would gladly stay again.

It’s an atmospheric hotel. Next to the beach, House of Wonders, Old Fort, and Freddie Mercury childhood house (actually, you can book that apartment, it’s part of the Tembo House options). Room with A/C, and wifi. Friendly staff

Very friendly and helpful staff. I enjoyed the breakfast selection.
Disliked · We were promised a sea view room, but the room did not directly face the sea.

Old hotel in the very center of the city. Interesting styling. The rooms in the old atmosphere reflect the character of the city. Swimming pool overlooking the sea.
Disliked · Unfortunately, the food is of poor quality, but you can eat something for breakfast

The location of the hotel is very good which is in the center of stone town. The staff was lovely.
Disliked · The hotel was very crowded and we could not find sunbed. The food was average. There is no alcohol in the hotel.

The proximity to all attractions and beach access. The hotel has many room options including suits.
Disliked · The restaurant could add more variety of food although the basic menu is declicous.

We love the pool, historical main building, staff, breakfast and beach view at sunset.
Disliked · It needs to be better clarified that the ANNEX building is behind the main building up in the town and requires one to cross the street and public area to reach the pool. The challenge is not the distance, yet it requires to cover up bringing extra clothes for changing to respect local village life. Not a problem, but should be clear in the booking system.

Loved everything about it. Location perfect, decor beautiful, concierge helpful
Disliked · The breakfast: some days it was lovely like when they served chickpea curry, sesame naan, ox liver curry, french toast. But sometimes there were unpalatable dishes that catered to Russian palates and I could not eat.

Staff is super nice and very helpful
– Breakfast was ok, plenty of options and good coffee (compared to the rest of the island)
– Excellent location, right next to the old city
– great facilities with 2 pools and a direct beach access
Disliked · – Make sure that you book in Tembo hotel and not in the “annex building”, we didn’t pay attention to this and the manager was nice enough to upgrade us to the main hotel for a small premium.
– old closet and drawers almost falling down, nice for decoration but can’t really be used.

Abdul rahmani makame from the restaurant and Ronad who made eggs and crepe for breakfast were so friendly and smiling, it was amazing, they always made our day. Staff in general was super friendly.
Bahari bungalow is a nice choice!
Disliked · The first room was extremely small and there was no direct view to the sea. This should be mentioned.
The breakfast was every single day the same and the variety was very small.
Unfortunately no music in the restaurant.
