It is a very nice secluded place, situated in lush gardens. The bungalows were realy nice traditional houses.

I LOVED this place! We stayed in a few places around Zanzibar and this was our favorite! The vibe is so chill, plenty of space, you can take a little “boat” for free, reggae music, cleaning every morning, delicious breakfast. The beach near by is pretty empty and overall feeling is amazing. Thank you!

Love the facilities, the beach, the canoes, room is perfect the bar is great
Disliked · Salted water in the room! Shower and in the sink, not nice to brush teeth in salted water!
Food!!! Terrible! Worst food i had in zanzibar, the owner is French and I am french she should be ashamed to serve this bad food! Pizza horrible, salad with no dressings, dinners are not nice as well. Such a big big disappointment wont come again until the kitchen changes! Specially at this price!

The remote location with direct access to the sea
The pool
The garden
Disliked · We came back at 8:30pm from a trip and the restaurant was already closed. However, the staff was nice enough to provide us with something to eat.

The attention to detail with the decoration, layout, sunset view, the stories about the whale bones, the free kayak to use, the fresh fruit from breakfast and the really kind and helpful people working there! Stayed for 2 nights only but i left with an overall great feeling and a wish to return!
Disliked · Salty water at the shower :(, the room was quite hot and no A/C :(, the restaurant was not well supplied with missing items on the menu. These aspects did not have such a negative impact on my stay, as i had a short stay.

The positive points are so more and I will recommend promised land to anyone that asks.
The vibe is absolutely tranquil, quiet and relaxed. No people begging more than enough sun chairs and lounge areas, staff is genuinely friendly (not because the expect tips you can feel its genuine from the heart) the bar is average priced, food is decent but the top prize is the view and the absolute quiteness of the lodge.
Disliked · Only the shower wasn’t great. Water pressuree was very low, couldn’t get hot water.

Breakfast always consisted of a plate of different pieces of fruit and a second plate, with a choice of two or three different egg arrangements. To drink coffee, tea and magic juice. Tasty refreshing. The surroundings of the resort are nice, the low tide of the sea is about 200 meters, nearby you can see dolphins in the sea, a small coral reef, beautiful small sandy beaches nearby.
Disliked · Distance from the nearest village, shops, bad roads. Still, you don’t need any of that in the resort 🙂

This was out last stop after moving around the island and it proved to be what we liked most. The property is remotely located and has an amazing garden with an abundance of exotic plants and many spots for relaxing, either in hammocks, beach beds, sofas etc. every little corner makes a good photo. They even make a camping fire around the bar every evening. You have a nice swimming pool area, a small playground for kids and sandy field for beach volleyball or badminton. The place is managed very well, staff is very friendly the owner is also often around. Good and nice looking bar, good restaurant on a deck facing the ocean, everything in a totally relaxing atmosphere. The whole place is on a rock at the ocean, you can swim/snorkel very nicely at hight tide or you can walk for 10 minutes to the reef at low tide to have a snorkel there. Sometimes you can see the dolphins from the restaurant deck. You also have a couple of kayaks to use for free. There is no beach but you won’t feel its absence, actually you can walk at a very close little beach during low tide. They also organize excursions. The whole place is very clean and you wont get disturbed by locals trying to sell things, also feels very safe to leave your things around even with no safe-box in the room. As a family of 3 with a small kid we stayed in a bungalow surrounded by nice plants and facing the ocean. Overall very nice and relaxing, well manned property which made us extend our stay. All types of tourist here from young people, singles or couples, families, elders all looking to have a relaxing vacation. Music at the bar is totally chilling. Really beautiful place.
Disliked · The rooms are in local style, they look ok perhaps a bit simplistic and cheap and the bathroom needs some improvement but the overall feeling you have when staying here totally outweighs for this. The water system at the property runs on salted water but it is less salted than the sea water and we did not really feel an inconvenience when washing. Also, right upon entering the property there is an administrative area which is in contrast with the rest of the resort and perhaps needs to be masked by plants. It was our first image we had and made us a bit doubtful of the rest which was not the case and then we only saw it upon entering and when leaving. One annoying thing here is that the boats chasing the dolphins start running at 6 in the morning, and they are many and they are loud so they wake you up if you don’t have a deep sleep.
