The rooms were great with a breathtaking view of the beach!! The beach was beautiful and the view was amazing. They serve breakfast buffet every morning which was world class and their candle lit dinners were very enjoyable especially when there was a show.
Disliked · Lunch time was only from 12:30 until 2:30… It should probably be extended until 5pm. Also more water bottles should be delivered to the rooms daily.

Beautiful accomodation, very clean, nice stuff, great breakfast….
Disliked · Not possible to swim in the sea during the low tight (in our case almost the whole day). We had to change the roome once during our stay.

Big room, private terrace, friendly staff, access to the beach, beautiful landscape, almost every night entertainment, good deal for food.
Disliked · Poor Internet connection or lack of internet most of the time.
When low tide no possibility of snorkeling or swimming.

The place is just perfect. Like paradise. All clean, on the beach, great flora and great staff.

it’s a small resort which is beautifully matching with the tropical environment. The manager and her staff are friendly, helpful and made their possible to maximize our stay. The rooms were large and cleaned each day, bedding changed very often and towels changed every day. The bed was very comfortable.
Disliked · I just miss the possibility to order some snacks during the day.

The food is very good and diverse for the breakfast (I only had breakfast), the pool very nice. I recommend you to book trips with local people from the beach because at the hotel the trips are very expensive.
Disliked · The hotel is a bit remote so you either chill at the pool( because there is low tide until 4 PM every day) or go to Paje, Jambiani or Nungwi. The staff is generally nice, but sometimes they also seem a bit upset compared to how Zanzibar people are in general.

The accommodation exceeded expectations. Everything is very nice, clean, tidy, spacious. The pool is medium in size, but sufficient and no crowds. The beach is beautiful, the hotel is directly on the sea, has a wonderful view.
The value of what you get for the money paid is very very good 👍👍👍 perhaps among the best on the island.
If I come to Zanzibar again, I will definitely come to this hotel again.
Disliked · Prices in the restaurant are a bit higher and exchange rate on hotel reception for usd or eur is not good.

beautiful garden with nightlife (bushbaby, lizard, bat), evening programme, very nice and spacious and calm room, in the middle of nowhere, almost no beach seller, good massages
Disliked · low tide twice a day but we knew it, food looked better than it tasted

A magical place. You can see and feel that the owner puts her heart into making this place so wonderful. A lovely hotel. Wonderfully located. Not close to the beach but on the beach. Service at the highest level. Great breakfast, great meals. High quality, freshness. A place for a wonderful rest and relaxation. For the first time, I have heard that the hotel website encourages people to go barefoot. I felt like in paradise in this hotel. The footpaths in the hotel grounds are covered with sand. From leaving the cottage, you can go barefoot all the time. Amazing experience for today’s times. For this absolutely wonderful crew. Amani you are a wonderful person. I hope that we will meet again one day. I don’t want to highlight anyone, because both the waitresses, waiters, cleaning ladies, the reception and the Maasai were incredibly friendly, helpful and smiling. I regretted that we had to leave. I also booked a second property before going to Zanzibar. We were delighted with the swimming pool, silence, ocean, beaches, closeness to nature, and the smiles of people. We will definitely want to come back to Pongwe Bay Resort.
Disliked · On the first day I asked to turn off the outside light in the cottage. Neither button turned it off. The light was on all week, day and night. Doesn’t bother you while you sleep. Only what it is – let’s take care of the planet!

The resort has its own beach, with coconut trees and white sand. Tides are a little disturbing, but you get used to it eventually. And you can always use the pool instead. Rooms are big and beds are comfortable.
Disliked · Food is a little repetitive (we stayed 12 nights).

The staff were all very good. The briefing on arrival to the departure, the staff were outstanding. The room was fantastic, big, and nice and clean. The gardens were immaculate and the pool was good. The Italian manager had everything in tip top order.

beautiful location and very friendly staff. Amenities very good. Spa facilities basic but service and treatments were exceptional.
Disliked · Late start to evening meal (8pm) and very lengthy delays between courses – up to an hour!
Evening entertainment happening during meal service was intrusive and should have been either prior to with cocktails or after the meal service with desert and digestive.

A brilliantly clean and stylish resort. Spacious rooms and bathrooms with stunning finishes, whilst keeping the traditional touch. Aircons were a pleasant surprise and so was the outside shower ( needed a bit more privacy). The large pool was a joy to swim in. I enjoyed the deck chairs and hammocks close to the beach. The gardens in resort are wonderful as well as the huge palm trees. Restaurant area was a nice place to hang out. Wifi was good but a bit erratic. The evening shows were also something to look forward to, but the suddenly stopped if after a few days. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Disliked · Breakfast was ok, could have had some better choices available and food quality could have improved. Other meals were highly overpriced even with the discount offered. A few more onsite facilities are needed, such as a jungle gym for young kids and maybe boat / dhow / kayak rides from the hotel. The actual beach was a big disappointment, you need to walk about 1.5km at low tide to get decent water, but when you do its beautiful especially if you find some corals. At high tide water is shallow and murky. Also there is virtually nothing around the hotel of interest, neither any reasonable food options.
