This hotel is very grand and luxurious. You’ll be amazed while you walk through the hotel. However, our experience wasn’t great at all. Our AC wasn’t working the entire night, room service/ concierge wasn’t responsive at all and they messed …

Hyatt Stone Town is a fantastic oasis by the beach of a busy city.
Go there for a drink or stay there a couple of nights.
The food is good but the scenery is even better.
Unprecedented service and quality.
Luxury hotel in a class of its own.

The best hotel in Stone Town with a great staff and probably the best food in the area. You are paying western rates but its reasonable if you consider what you get for it. Comfy beds and great views of the sunset.
The only downside is

I loved everything about this hotel. Hyatt hotels never disappoint me so far, they always manage to come through. I felt welcome the moment I entered. The rooms are gorgeous with beautiful picturesque view of the sea. And breakfast was lovely too. I would definitely stay at Park Hyatt Zanzibar if I ever do go back.

Elegant, luxury hotel that has the best location in Stone Town that’s perfect to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site on foot. Stylish rooms with four-poster bed and free-standing bath, excellent service and food that’s reasonably priced. Lovely swimming pool area, nice bar and fab breakfast. Highly recommend.

If I would compare it to other hotels in Stone Town, the hotel would get 5stars as it’s far the best in town. However I rating it to comparison of other Park Hyatt Hotels around the world I visited. This hotel doesn’t have private beach, so you could only enjoy your time by not very big infinity pool.(But we come to Zanzibar mainly for the pristine beaches and swimming in the sea). The hotel is in proximity of Zanzibar docks,so the beach is very noisy with crowds of people running back and forth, in some moment there can be like hundred kids screaming and running on the beach at the same time, so do not expect quiet relaxing time watching the sunset. As restaurants itself they adhere to Park Hyatt standards, beautifully decorated, good food, nice cocktails, but the staff require to get bit more training.

I did not stay at this place in Zanzibar but it is reputed as being the best in Stonetown and the prices which are the highest hopefully bear testimony to this. From the outside, it looks impeccable but all the hotels along here though they have ocean view unfortunately do not have private beaches. In fact, the beach strip on this side of the island is very limited so it has to be shared with the locals for other services such as launching boats etc…

It was a great Resort after being all around Tanzania and doing a lot of camping – the staff were very accommodating and even one of them helped me outside of hours without me realising, when I was lost in the streets of the Old Town. Fantastic pool location right on the beach and I think when we went it was actually one of the better priced 5 star resorts because somewhere charging close to 800 or $1,000 per night in US dollars.
