Aluna Nungwi

I really enjoyed my stay in Aluna. It was nice, cozy hotel, made me feel like at home. The room had nice sitting area at the balcony. Pools were nice, just few minutes walk to the beach. Food was the best I had during my whole Zanzibar trip. I would recommend visit their restaurant even if you are staying in different hotel! The staff were lovely and attentive. One of the owners, Caroline was really lovely and seemed to really care about the guests. She gave some great advices and was always ready to answer for any questions asked. The Aluna team are caring about the environment and are giving their great effort to clean up the surrounding areas as well (beach, roads etc.)

Disliked · Nothing bad to say, loved my stay!

Our stay was wonderful. Aluni is a warm and cosy oasis in a beuatiful garden. The staff is smilling everytime, although they have been working since early morning, being here for you ,would make your holiday unforgettable. The cuisine is great and the chef is famous and dishes are catered to a high standard. Everything worked, including wifi, so important for our children :-).

Disliked · The breakfast orders came out all mixed up even though the orders were taken on an iPad. However, they were very tasty!

I loved how close it was to the beach, but not too close to the tourist strip. They have a tuctuc who took me to the ATM very quickly at a reasonable price. The food was always excellent.

The resort itself is beautiful! Gardens & pools make the place super comfortable to chill at.
The food is also amazing. Chef Bakari Yusuf will ensure that you get exactly what you want. What a great chef he is.
Mubarak the operations coordinator is also fantastic, he will go out of his way to make your stay comfortable. Very insightful & knowledgeable about the island. Was great to meet him.
The staff are overall friendly. Anna & Fatoma also ensured we had a good stay!

Disliked · It’s located close to a beach, but it’s not a nice beach at all. Luckily the nice beach is just 5 minutes away with the tuk tuk!
One thing I would have liked was a kettle in the room.

1. We stayed in the king room which was exceptional. Very clean and comfortable.
2. Very good breakfast with homemade products.
3. The staff was very nice and helpful. Quick with a joke.

Disliked · 1.I stayed here for 3 nights an in one day there was a power out.
2.in one day there was low water pressure in the bathroom and I could not take a shower.
I think both this problems had more to do with the village infrastructure, not the resort.
3.at breakfast, not all choices were always available.
4.the village center is about 15 minutes away but if you don’t mind a nice walk on the beach, you’re ok.
5.a little bit expensive for off season.

After a long drive from the airport I was so warmly met at the reception – felt like home!!!!
Very cosy hotel with outlook like in exotic fairy tale (palm trees, pools, buildings) – charming.
Swimming pool with salty water was my favorite in scorching afternoons.
The chef prepares extra delicious things there!!

Disliked · There are not many things around the hotel – a couple of alternative eating places. The closest beach leaves a lot to be desired: rocks and seaweed + low tide before afternoon (so no way to swim in the first half of the day).
20 minutes walk to Nungwi beach, where the beach is better and plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops (the center of activity). or 5 minutes by motorbike/tuktuk/taxi.

I loved the staff who is so friendly, always smiling!
The food was amazing and well presented.
The room was nice and clean.
The garden and pool are really nice

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Aluna Nungwi. The staff were welcoming and friendly, always available and willing to assist no matter what the request was. We loved the tuk-tuk service which was always available to take and fetch us. Beautiful location, gardens and pool areas. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Just a short walk to the beach. Highly recommended.

Disliked · There was nothing to complain about really. Perhaps one or two more vegetarian meal options on the menu.

Great hotel that uses eco-friendly solutions, friendly staff, clean, delicious food at local restaurant, small paradise in NUNGWi

Disliked · 20-30 minutes walk from NUNGWi beach, the one next to the hotel is not good when it comes to low tides

Even though the hotel is not at the beach, the beautiful garden inside makes you feel like in paradise, pools and sunbeds under palms are available too. Room service is good, everything was clean and replaced in time upon our requests, as in all eco-friendly hotels.
The staff is friendly and helps to solve all issues. The managers make sure their guests are happy about staying in Aluna, and in case anything goes wrong will offer options how to fix it in a best for the guests way.
Special thanks to the resturant chef, the meals looked so high-end and were so delicious, we didn’t want to dine in another place 😆

Disliked · The hotel is located a bit aside from other hotels on Nungwi, but this is compensated by tuk-tuk service that they offer – so Nungwi and Kendwa beaches become easy reachable.
I didn’t get the design of rooms, where there are no doors to toilet. And in rooms with shower outdoors I would add another shower indoors, but this is subject to one’s taste of course 🙂
And in same category go hard matraces and AC disposed right in front of the bed, so for some people it can cause inconvenience.

Best chocolate in breakfast. Small paradise. Private open air shower is TOP. Very helpful and friendly staff. Thank you for everything
